About Elli

Elli Brooks is a decorative artist specialising in hand-painted murals and bespoke painted furniture. She founded Elli Brooks Studio to bring artistry, craftsmanship, and individuality into interiors through thoughtful, design-conscious decorative painting.

Coming from a creative family, Elli grew up surrounded by large-scale artistic projects – her parents painted ceiling murals for hotels and cruise ships while she was at school – and she has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember.

Her career began along a very different path: she studied law at university, after which she trained as a barrister, and worked in the legal team of a large public inquiry for five years. After a brief stint in government policy, Elli decided to return to her artistic roots and pursue her long-standing passion for painting.

Since establishing her practice, she has contributed to projects with Meg Boscawen and is now developing her own portfolio of bespoke work.

Elli’s vision for her studio is to collaborate with interior designers and clients on projects where hand-painted details – from murals to furniture – can add character, beauty, and storytelling to the fabric of a space.

Thoughtful process

The process

Each mural is created through a thoughtful and collaborative process, designed to make commissioning bespoke artwork an enjoyable and seamless experience. Elli works directly with private clients as well as in partnership with interior designers on behalf of their clients

1. Design consultation

Every mural begins with a conversation. Elli meets with the client to understand their vision, aesthetic preferences, and the character of the space. Consultations can take place in person, allowing Elli to view the setting and assess lighting, scale, and architecture, or remotely via phone or video. During this stage, Elli offers creative recommendations on how a mural can best complement the environment and bring the client’s ideas to life.

2. Concept development & samples

Following the consultation, Elli creates initial sketches or painted samples to illustrate how the design will work within the space. These studies explore composition, colour palette, and stylistic approach, giving the client a clear sense of how the finished mural will look and feel.

3. Design refinement

The next stage is a collaborative process where Elli and the client refine the design together. Feedback is incorporated to adjust details, scale, and tone until the final artwork fully reflects the desired atmosphere and narrative. This ensures that every mural feels truly personal and perfectly suited to its setting.

4. Installation & painting

Once the design is approved, Elli completes the mural on site during the agreed installation period. Each stage of painting is handled with care and attention to detail, with regular communication throughout the process. The result is a bespoke, hand-painted artwork that transforms the space and stands as a lasting expression of the client’s vision.
